The Alpine region, and therefore also the border region between Salzburg and Bavaria, is particularly affected by climate change. The effects are becoming increasingly visible and noticeable due to the increase in extreme weather events such as heat and drought periods, heavy rainfall, hailstorms, forest fires and storms. It is therefore all the more important to proactively take appropriate measures to adapt to climate change and thus reduce the negative effects.

We focus on the transfer of knowledge and technology from universities to markets, digital intelligence and future technologies. In six research studios, with research locations in Salzburg, St. Pölten, Vienna and Linz, we have been operating as an agile, non-university research organisation since 2002.

Intelligent building, redensification, living and mobility. Alternatives to the internal combustion engine for climate protection and a better quality of life.
The Research Studio iSPACE – Smart Settlement Systems develops innovative spatial indicators, location assessment models and planning tools.

Data Analytics

Better forecasting and customer knowledge through predictive analytics, semantic technologies, AI and machine learning techniques.
The Research Studio Data Science actively researches the advancement of current data structures and data streams, as well as national and international data markets.
Attention Aware Systems

Attention Aware Systems

Competency-based learning and performance enhancement through eye tracking and augmented reality combined with multi-sensor data.
The Research Studio Pervasive Computing Applications is concerned with the development of innovative interaction modalities for application in future human-machine interaction scenarios.

Better control of industrial processes through 4D geo-intelligence, i.e. spatio-temporal representations for the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0.
The Research Studio iSPACE – Smart 4D Environments works on the conception and organization of sustainably managed spatial data infrastructures, or the definition of adaptive workflows among users.

Intelligent energy balances for electricity & heat in times of climate change. The contribution to a resource-saving energy supply.
The Research Studio iSPACE – Smart Settlement Systems is specialized in geo-referenced technologies, especially regarding the aspect of energy efficiency, as well as environmentally friendly mobility.

Social MicroLearning

New collaborative forms of learning, online and mobile. Granular microlearning, social and open learning as social sharing and dissemination processes.
MoKnowLab is working on new digital and mobile forms of learning. Learning card types such as multiple choice, fill-in and binary number learning cards form the basis of Social MicroLearning.
