In the first week of July, everything in Salzburg revolves around geoinformatics. The Research Studio iSPACE of the RSA FG will give interesting presentations at the geoinformatics conferences AGIT and ISDE.

AGIT is the annual meeting place for innovation, networking and education from all areas of geoinformatics. AGIT 2021 steht unter dem Motto „re.connecting spatially“ has the motto “re.connecting spatially” and will take place from 7 to 8 July 2021 hybrid online and in Salzburg.

The GI_Week – the Geoinformatics Week – is complemented by the International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE), which will take place in Austria for the first time from 6 to 8 July 2021 – and also online. The symposium is one of the world’s largest and most important events that use a “digital earth” to examine current and societal problems.

The two events are organised by the University of Salzburg and in particular the Department of Geoinformatics, Z_GIS. In cooperation with the organisers, the Research Studio iSPACE of the RSA FG is working to advance the transfer of knowledge and innovation from data science and geoinformatics into socially relevant application areas.

The Research Studios iSPACE Smart Settlement Systems and iSPACE Smart 4D Environments will be represented at GI_Week with the following presentations:

Wednesday, 7.7.2021:

  • ISDE: Data Driven Spatial Intelligence Forum (13.00-14.00):
    • Real World & Environment Digital Twins: Bridging large-scale 4D IoT, BIM and 3D GIS – Manfred Mittlböck
      Introduction of spatial, cross-domain linking strategies including validation results from applied research projects for large-scale 3D and 4D maps.
    • Data Driven Spatial Planning: Transformation of Energy Systems – Markus Biberacher
  • AGIT: Housing Planning & 4D Infrastructure (13.30-14.15):
    • Demand-oriented housing planning with the WohnMOBIL kit – Günter Gruber, Florian Schöpflin, David Madlener, Sabine Gadocha
      Limited availability of building land and displacement processes to the outskirts of regional centres require innovative approaches to create affordable and resource-efficient housing. The WohnMOBIL kit offers GIS-based tools and recommendations for action for municipalities and developers.
    • Automated derivation of spatial planning-relevant parameters of the building stock – Wolfgang Spitzer, Sabine Gadocha, Thomas Prinz, Daniel Youssef, Lukas Götzlich, Ingrid Schardinger
      In the project Zentrum Alpines Bauen, a GIS-based methodology for the automated estimation of spatial planning-relevant parameters of the building stock (building area, gable height, number of storeys…) was developed and implemented for the province of Salzburg. The lecture presents the methodological concepts and work steps as well as an evaluation of the results.
    • Provision of current status information in 4D for industrial campuses – strategies and workflows for the harmonised integration of spatiotemporal data sets in the context of Industry 4.0 – Manfred Mittlböck, Caroline Atzl, Bernd Lackner, Michael Andorfer, Gerald Griesebner
      This article shows first results of a generalised workflow for harmonised data integration and transformation of building and environmental data in the context of a smart industrial campus. The strategies presented aim to improve “situational awareness” – the knowledge of the current situation in industrial sites. This with the aim of expanding new possibilities of Industry 4.0 with the current status information.
  • AGIT: Energy Planning (17.30-18.15):
    • Building model for spatial energy planning – Lukas Götzlich, Ingrid Schardinger, Wolfgang Spitzer, Sabine Gadocha, Franz Mauthner, Markus Biberacher
      In order to cover the spatially specific information needs of energy planning, a comprehensive building model was developed. A total of approx. 65 building attributes form a solid foundation for spatial heat and electricity demand models including scenarios and coverage potentials with renewable energy.

Thursday, 8.7.2021:

  • AGIT: Poster session (09.00-09.45):
    • Policies for Mobility Behaviour Change – Experiences from the SaMBA Project – Johanna Schmitt, Anna Butzhammer, Dagmar Lahnsteiner, Thomas Prinz
      The poster combines an Excel component for the identification of suitable measures to promote sustainable mobility behaviour and a GIS component for the modelling and visualisation of needs and potentials. Furthermore, pilot activities on sustainable mobility of the city of Salzburg are presented.
