How mountain bikers increase their performance GazeAnalyser
The studio “Pervasive Computing Applications” has successfully completed its project “Attention Analysis in Competitive Sports” for the Austrian Cycling Federation (ÖRV). The RSA research team – consisting of Benedikt Gollan, Peter Fritz and Mikhail Timofeev – developed a novel application called “GazeAnalyser” for the Austrian national mountain bike team.
Using a wearable eye tracker, the gaze behaviour of mountain bike professionals is recorded and subsequently subjected to intelligent data analysis. “This is an innovative method to capture attention and perception behavior in professional sports and thus optimize the athletes’ performance”, explains Benedikt Gollan, studio manager of the RSA FG Studio “Pervasive Computing Applications”.
“Attention analysis in professional sports is a highly interesting new field of application of computational methods”, explains RSA FG managing director Peter A. Bruck. “We are happy to invite other suitable sports disciplines, where seconds or milliseconds are involved, to test our developments”.
The Austrian Cycling Federation has received the application in order to be able to carry out further measurements continuously.
