Web of Needs hackathon produced 14 new bot solutions
14 new bots were designed this week at the TU Vienna in the course “Hackathon: Cooperative Open Source Development with Web of Needs“, which was presented by Ao. Prof. Dr. Christian Huemer and DI Florian Kleedorfer from the Research Studio SAT of the RSA FG. During the course, a hackathon with award ceremony took place to further motivate the participants.
“32 participants have implemented 14 bots in 192 working hours in the domains of opinion polling, text translation, book market, air quality and others”,
Florian Kleedorfer reports from the course: “The high motivation and competence of the students, consistently interesting projects as well as realistic project sizes were to be emphasized.
Here are the award winners:
1st:
PollVoteBot by Tomislav Makar, Philip Niedertscheider und Julian Präsent
2nd:
coopbot by Andreas Fend, Dominik Scheffknecht und Reinhard Unger
3rd:
TranslateBot by Alexander Firbas und Rafael Vrecar
In addition to the winning projects, two bot solutions for the book market deserved special mention: BookMatchBot (Benedikt Fuchs and Samantha Fuchs) and BookPileBot (Matilda Bilaver and Iris Fiedler). On the one hand, these prototypes offer a decentralized book market, e.g. for used books, on the other hand, the book search of the Viennese libraries is seamlessly integrated into this decentralized market.
