iSPACE becomes part of the GISMO project
Sitting for long periods of time shortens life – this is shown by a recent large and representative study. A mere 25-35 minutes of physical activity per day is enough to significantly reduce the risk again. 60-75 minutes daily are enough to compensate for even 8 hours of sitting. In order to achieve this daily physical activity level, the way to work is ideal. In the GISMO (Geographical Information Support for Healthy Mobility) project, physicians, geoinformaticians, mobility researchers and employees of the Salzburg provincial clinics are therefore providing support for a year in changing to an active commute to work. Studio iSPACE is also a partner in the project. Together with the research team of Z_GIS, it combines the results of the study with spatial models to create individual route recommendations including health benefits.
