ALeS: Digital Bootcamp
Workplace-integrated learning in the Smart Factory of the Data Science, MoKnowLab, and Pervasive Computing Applications Research Studios is the intuitive and interactive integration of learning content into the work and production environment. Social microlearning methods are combined with modern interaction technologies in an interdisciplinary way. The project is aimed at companies that want to systematically build up RTI competence by training employees in specific digitization topics, as well as at universities or universities of applied sciences with a focus on IT or digitization. The next training iteration will take place in Fall 2022.

TRUSTS paper on Data Management Platforms (DMP) presented at WorldCIST’22 Conference
Michael Boch, researcher at Research Studios Austria, presented the paper “A systematic review of data management platforms” [3] at the 2022 World Conference on Information Systems and Technologies (WorldCIST’22), which was developed in the context of data market interoperability within TRUSTS.
The paper systematically reviews a set of well-established data management platforms and compares their functionality. The BONUS project is developing an innovative redensification consulting service that focuses on the potentials and mobilization of existing housing stock. In this way, additional living space shall be created in cities without designating new areas. In addition to the use of an innovative database, criteria such as the preservation of green space and sustainable mobility play an important role in ensuring quality of life.

Ultimob: Sustainable Transfer in the Context of Future-Oriented Mobility & Digital Planning
After innovative and sustainable mobility solutions were initiated in pilot regions within the ULTIMOB project in 2021, they were presented in the course “Kommunale Mobilitätsbeauftragte” – a course by Climate Alliance Austria for the development and optimization of innovative mobility concepts in areas with heavy traffic.
Dr. Thomas Prinz and Mag. Stefan Herbst from the Research Studio iSPACE gave a lecture as part of this course and talked about the possibilities to optimize public transport as well as the development of innovative mobility solutions.

Expert dialog: iSPACE presents thermal atlas
The research results of the GEL S/E/P I and II projects were presented at the expert dialog on municipal heat planning as a building block of municipal heat planning. Ingrid Schardinger presented the heat atlas.

On October 24, around 30 participants from the building department, urban and transport planning, politics, the SIR - Salzburg Institute for Spatial Planning and Housing and the Department of Geoinformatics Z_GIS, among others, addressed the question of how urban quality of life works.

First DoSSIER Summer School
Last week the 1st DoSSIER summer school was held after two years from the start of the project in the beautiful city of Olympiada in Greece. DoSSIER is an EU Horizon 2020 ITN/ETN project on Domain Specific Systems for Information Extraction and Retrieval which is being implemented via 15 Early Stage Researcher (ESR) projects led by 15 PhD students across 4 EU states in addition to the UK. Follow-Up Project “Aufzonierungsgebiete”
For several years, the city of Salzburg has consistently pursued a strategy of settlement development based on internal and subsequent densification in order to meet future housing needs. This is exactly where the project "Nachverdichtungsmonitor" from the studio iSPACE - Smart Settlement Systems started: in order to monitor the success of the goals and measures set, a standardized, transparent GIS evaluation tool was created in the form of the "Nachverdichtungsmonitor" which compares the development of the building stock with the maximum building densities [...]
