Action Plan for UIM 2020

From 2014 till 2015

In the research project “Spatial Information Infrastructure Action Plan for UIM 2020” the studio iSPACE developed together with representatives of the Federal Environment Agency the future conception of the spatio-temporal information infrastructure for the Federal Environment Agency in the context of UIM 2020 with special focus on governance, taking into account the EU INSPIRE Directive, the UIG and the upcoming requirements of the OpenGovernment Data Initiatives in Austria.

The main focus of the work was the comprehensive compilation of the current organisation of (spatio-temporal) metadata at the Federal Environment Agency as a state-of-the-art analysis with subsequent evaluation of possible system solutions for sustainable organisation and the retrieval of the metadata. A major focus was the definition of opening and transfer mechanisms of the various heterogeneous metadata concepts and solutions of the UBA for the harmonisation of metadata stocks, taking into account the content requirements and technical interfaces of the INSPIRE Directive and the Austrian/European OpenGovernment Initiative.

In a consultative process with selected UBA experts, the metadata documentation and use strategy for UIM 2020 was finally defined.
