The SpotON MozART project with the Mozarteum University Salzburg combined art and technology to great public effect. A container with projectors visualizing a string quartet was installed. Visitors control the volume of the music by interacting with the projection. The project was aimed at a wider public.

The overall solution represents an innovative new approach to audience interaction, enabling a dynamic interplay between the audience and the music/video. The scientific analysis is based on the atypical dissonances of the chosen piece (String Quartet in C major KV 465, “Dissonance Quartet”). This makes it possible to analyze how visitors deal with these dissonances via the interactive control options, whether they defuse or intensify them.
