Studio iSPACE develops strategies for more environmentally conscious mobility in the Alpine region.
How can you make trips by bus, train or bike tasty instead of using your private car? What would have to change in the pricing? What “reward systems” already exist, and what would have to be invented to promote sustainable mobility? These are the questions addressed by the project “SaMBA – Sustainable Mobility Behaviours in the Alpine Region”, in which the Research Studio iSPACE from Salzburg is a scientific project partner.
In total, nine use cases from 13 project partners in five countries will be tested until May 2021: Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Italy and France. Studio iSPACE is especially dedicated to the question of mobility behavior of people in a new living environment. Each project partner is investigating a specific use case to the overarching question. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the Alpine Space Programme.
Today’s state correspondence, the press service of the state of Salzburg, quotes iSPACE researcher Daniela Zocher as follows: “We want people to think more about the environment when choosing their means of transport. Does more and better information about alternatives help, do small rewards as incentives bring something or are there new ideas that have been successful elsewhere?
